The Rowing Club Association of Parents (ROCAP) was formed in 1981 when John Lea was Master i/c Rowing. Rowing is an expensive activity and whilst the club has always enjoyed a degree of financial support from the school it has had to undertake the majority of fund raising itself. In the late 1970s it was clear that the club was falling way behind its rivals in terms of equipment and at a time when the school was under considerable financial pressure, there was little prospect of circumstances changing for the better. ROCAP was formed by a group of Boat Club parents as a means of providing fund-raising support.
Since 1981 ROCAP has become central to the continued development of the club, raising considerable sums of money through a variety of activities and by seeking external sponsorship.
What follows is a slender outline based on details provided by individual rowing reports. It is hoped that at some time in the future a detailed record of ROCAP membership will appear here.
