The history of the L.R.G.S.B.C. has been organised into sections according to who was the Master i/c Rowing for the seasons concerned. The accounts of each season represent a synthesis of reports from the Lancastrian, from the establishment of the club in 1948 to the present day. Over that period the pattern of publication of the Lancastrian has changed from a twice-yearly to an annual publication. As a result many of the early accounts represent a fusion of reports taken from two Lancastrians, sometimes published adjacent calendar years. A rowing season is taken to mean an academic year. The season starts in September and ends in the following July.
